Homeless Veterans Program
HUD-VASH program is a partnership between the Department of HUD, the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Housing Authority to provide subsidized housing vouchers for eligible homeless Veterans. The VASH program allows eligible Veterans to obtain safe, affordable, accessible and permanent housing in a location of their choice. Veterans must be eligible for VA health care as defined by laws and regulations and must be homeless.
Veterans may continue to use the housing choice voucher as long as it is needed or until income thresholds are exceeded. Veterans must be currently homeless and have history of chronic homelessness, have income below established HUD threshold and have an identified clinical need for case management. Referrals may be made for a Veteran thought to be eligible and appropriate for the program by the VA clinician working with them. You will need your DD-214, Photo ID for all adults, social security cards and birth certificates for all household members, other income/asset verification are also required at time of application.
